Alliance for Parental Involvement in Education - assists and encourages parental involvement in education, wherever that education takes place: in public school, in private school, or at home. AllPIE offers a newsletter (Options in Learning), annual conferences and retreats, a book catalog, workshops, and lending library.

American Association of Museums - enhancing the ability of museums to serve the public interest.

American Social History Project - seeks to revitalize interest in history by challenging the traditional ways that people learn about the past.

Art Deco Society of New York

Association of Public Historians of New York State - APHNYS was created when the Association of Municipal Historians and the County Historian Association of New York State merged in 1998.  APHNYS promotes local New York history and the work of the public historians.

Capital Region ARMA

Catskill Institute - an organization dedicated to understanding the past and preserving the record of Jewish life in the Catskill Mountains.

Center for Jewish History - a partnership among the American Jewish Historical Society, Leo Baeck Institute, YIVO Institute and Yeshiva University Museum.

Columbia Oral History Research Office - the oldest and largest organized oral history program in the world.

Empire State Society Sons of the American Revolution - New York State chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Freedom Trail - emphasizes the importance of Black history in New York State, the Black historical sites to be found in New York State and Canada.

H-Net - Humanities and Social Sciences Online.

Historic Sites Commission - an agency of the City of Auburn which is dedicated to promoting five sites in Auburn.  (The Cayuga Museum, The Harriet Tubman Home, The Willard Memorial Chapel, the Schein Theater, and the William H. Seward House.)

Holland Society - founded in 1885 to collect information respecting the settlement and history of New Netherland, to find and preserve documentation about the inhabitants' lives and times and to elucidate the political, social, and religious patterns in the Dutch colony.

I Love NY - tourism site from the New York State Department of Economic Development.

Kanatsiohareke (Fonda, NY) - Residents speak Mohawk and practice traditional culture and ceremonies in an atmosphere of hard work and cooperation -- free from the specter of casinos, bingo, drugs and alcohol.  The community maintains a bed & breakfast, a crafts store, and practices traditional farming.

Lake Ontario Archives Conference - New York and Canadian professional archives organization.

National Council on Public History (NCPH) - aspires to make the public aware of the value, uses, and pleasures of history and seeks to serve the historical community.

New Netherland Project - established under the sponsorship of the New York State Library and the Holland Society of New York. Its primary objective is to complete the transcription, translation, and publication of all Dutch documents in New York repositories relating to the seventeenth century colony of New Netherland.

New York Center for Urban Folk Culture - City Lore maintains various web sites including CARTS (Cultural Arts Resources for Teachers and Students), specializing in building connections between local, regional, and national cultural resources and K-12 classrooms.

New York Council for the Humanities - devotes itself to insuring the presence of the humanities in the state's cultural and intellectual life and to guaranteeing the future of the humanities among young people. 

New York Folklore Society - offers a wide range of programs and services designed to nurture traditional arts and culture in the communities where they originate, foster the sharing of folk traditions across cultural boundaries.

New York Genealogical and Biographical Society - if you are interested in genealogy and your ancestors lived in New York State then visiting the NYG&BS site may help you to pursue your research.

New York Landmarks Conservancy - nationally recognized organization which helps owners of older buildings by providing grants, low­interest loans, hands-on consulting services, workshops, and publications.

New York Military Affairs Symposium - military history and the interrelationship of war, society and culture through the presentation of diverse scholarly viewpoints.

New York State Archives Partnership Trust - founded in 1992 to build an endowment and provide project funds to support access, awareness, education, and preservation project and programs to enhance the use of New York's State Archive.

New York State Barn Coalition - formed to serve as a unified voice for barn preservation across the state. 

New York State Council on the Arts - directed by the state Legislature to maintain the "paramount position of this State in the nation and the world as a cultural center" through the support of nonprofit arts organizations in New York State.

New York State Council for the Social Studies - a professional association offering membership to all persons who teach, supervise, develop curricular, engage in research, or are otherwise concerned with social studies education.

New York State Covered Bridge Society - formed in 1966 to bring enthusiasts together to help preserve the old historic covered spans, to work with local communities interested in saving bridges, to collect information on all New York State covered bridges and to make such historical information available to its members. 

New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation - New York State office managing state historic sites, museums, and parks.  Issues of The Preservationist available online.

New York State Writers Institute - founded by Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist William Kennedy with part of a fellowship awarded him from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in 1983.

Preservation Association of the Southern Tier (Binghamton, NY) - Susquehanna Heritage Area, walking tours and community landmark preservation.

Preservation League of New York State - dedicated to protecting New York's diverse and rich heritage of historic architecture, districts, and landscapes.

Preserve and Protect - collection of preservation and environmental organizations from the New York City area on one web site.

Radio Free New York - pirate radio legend Hank Hayes brings Radio Free New York to the web. Pirate radio history, audio files, out takes, jingles, airchecks - all in Real Audio.

The Six Nations - oldest living participatory democracy on Earth.

State Historical Records Advisory Board - board appointed by the Governor providing advice on how to develop programs for the identification, preservation, and use of New York's historical materials.

State History Interest Project (SHIP) - clubs for middle and high school students interested in New York State history, formerly known as Yorkers

Theodore Roosevelt Association (Oyster Bay, NY) - provides authoritative information on the life and ideals of Theodore Roosevelt, chartered by Act of Congress in 1920.

Traditional Arts in Upstate New York (Canton, NY) - an organization devoted to recording and presenting the rich living heritage of customs and folk arts in the fourteen counties of New York's North Country.

William H. Seward Memorial Project - memorializes William H. Seward, Union College Class of 1820, symbolizes the ideals he devoted his entire life to upholding: the abolition of slavery, the bettering of American public schools, the improvement of the American political system, and the boosting of the national economy.

Woodland Confederacy - dedicated to portraying Native Americans of the eastern woodlands during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Yaddo - an artists' community located on a 400-acre estate in Saratoga Springs, New York.
